Appointment Information

We hope your experience with the Biological Psychiatry Institute will be beneficial to you.  Please consider these quidelines when scheduling your appointments.  If you have any further questions regarding your medical care, please contact our staff. 


Follow-up visits are 30 minutes long and include the following:

  1. Evaluation of positive clinical effects
  2. Evaluation of possible side effects of medications
  3. Need for laboratory tests to monitor effects of medication
  4. Evaluation of need for continual use of medication
  5. Neurological and physical exams

Follow-up visits are scheduled as needed. When a patient is stabilized, office visits every six months may be all that is needed.



Approximately 8% to 10% of brain failure is secondary to failure of other organic systems. Our medical work-up includes certain test to rule out other disorders that can affect brain failure.

Our medical work-up may include:

  1. Neurological exam and physical exam
  2. Complete blood count and sed rate to rule out inflammatory illness such as lupu
  3. Urinalysis
  4. CMP(Complete Medical Panel) to assess:
    1. Pancreatic insulin function
    2. Parathyroid function
    3. Kidney function
    4. Liver function
    5. Cholesterol/fats
    6. Iron stores
  5. Thyroid evaluation
  6. Vitamin evaluation, including vitamin B12 and folic acid
  7. Serum iron evaluation including serum Ferritin
  8. DNA analysis MTHF DNA mutase
  9. 25 hydroxy Vitamin D
  10. Sex hormones
  11. MRI of the brain if needed
  12. Polysomnography


We give you a prescription for blood work and other testing to have done and the lab will send us those results. Dr. Williams will then review those results with you.
