In Merry the Cranberry and Self-Esteem, children are taught that our own self-esteem "reflects our attitude toward what we do, how we relate to others, and what we believe about ourselves."  In this adventure, Merry the Cranberry is awakened after having a dream, and is introduced to Mr. Sandman.  She soon realizes that Mr. Sandman does not feel good about himself, and feels as though he does not get any recognition for the things he does.  In this book, Merry the Cranberry teaches children and Mr. Sandman that we "work on our self-esteem when we make an effort to maintain positive self-esteem."
